After looking at existing truss designs we decided to design a version of a modified K truss with hopes of a material efficient, yet effective structural technnique. The span from the center to center of our supports was 24” ; this determined the number of times we subdivided the truss. After drawing the truss in 2D with the required width and height, we transferred the angles into a force polygon to determine the forces that would be present on each member when the load on AB was at 100 lbs. As the force polygon shows, the greatest force should be in the bottom chord (C), measuring 172.57 lbs.
