Spring 2010
In order to study the complex subtleties of the bottle’s curvature, it was sliced, scanned, and laid out as plan, axon, and section drawings. These drawings were later used to construct a Rhino model. The Rhino model was then translated into a series of interlocking folded planes that could be laser cut from mat board and held together with notches. The rotation of the fold scores follows the prominent curves on the bottle while sheer density allows the bottle’s overall form to be understood. The folded planes reject any previous orthogonal adherence and enhance the fluid, symmetrical qualities of the bottle.
